In my opinion i dislike this suggestion.
The fact that I can spend hours building a base, log out and then on the next day respawn naked just because someone decided wait until I left the server, to raid my base and then proceed to destroy the bedroll and then kill me while i was sleeping sounds pretty unfair and not fun at all.
Considering that everytime i logged back in a server i have (most of the times) my progress restarted this would quickly become a frustrating feature.
Buuuut if raiding and base building becomes somewhat balanced then yes it might work like you mentioned on the original post.
