4.0 Grenade functionally

Hey! Currently, grenades are a bit underused, and for good reason.

Today, I whould like to address these issues.

Today, I whould like to see them actually fragment.

Like, a set or slightly varied amount of additional projectiles will spewl out in any direction. Which will obviously injure players to various extent depending upon the varyient used.

The fragments themself will have heavy drop and vary velocity (damage and maximum flight time), and have there own particle image. I’m guessing they will also have a heavy white trail behind them.

And then lets add in some cool effects, but since we already have the basis, lets just thrown in the addition of a shockwave effect.

BUT, let give them some auto and visural effects to the player. like the players when affected will have there ear ring, there vision may blurr, and a general minor flashbang effect overall. All varies depending upon how, close they where.

And then lets spice it up, mean, if a shockwave hit you hard enough your not staying on your feet, right?

Well Players, of withen a certain range, will get knocked over to varying degrees. Like far off from the detonation, they will stagger slightly, disrupting aim. Close up, they will ragdoll you and will throw you across the room. Close enough, and now your bone is broken.

Leading to situations where if you throw it up on a roof the people up top may mostly survive it, but then there tossed off. The roof.

And for realistic sakes, since I don’t really see games implement this, if you dive to the ground, you will avoid some of the effect (Even more with a proper military helmet, such is designed for this).

And, this may be a bit hard to implement, but it whould be Intresting gameplay wise. Is that they are to be absolutely effective when thrown underwater.

In case you did not know, if you tossed a grenade in a small lake, you may have just killed all the fish in the lake. Not goofing, look it up. See, from the compression rupturing there lungs And then there ears. There dead. Same for hummans.

Lets say there 4x more effective underwater with the effect of draining oxygen.

TL;DR

Now they fragment, they have cooler explosion effects, extra effective underwater, affect player senses when detonated, players ragdoll/stagger to varying degrees, exa.

What are your opinions and thoughts? What whould you change?

Ignoring your spotty grammar (no offense, just a bit distracting), I would like to see fragmentation grenades actually fragment like they are designed to do. Most of the threat from these grenades comes not from the blast, but from the shrapnel potential.

Yes, definitely, grenades need more love.

Easily made glass shard and gasoline fragment bombs when?

I want my underbarrel mounted grenade launcher on my rifle

UBGLs aren’t what this post is about, but you could make your own.

Maybe increase the blast radius to mimic the fragment damage

There could be a blast radius and shrapnel radius. Being inside the blast radius could give different and more severe health effects than being cut and poked from the shrapnel.

Could also use more grenade variety like incendiary, (BALANCE?) HE, 40mm underbarrel impact nades, (BAlaNcE) and never forget rifle grenades.

edit: STICKY GRENADES WHEN?

(I want my makeshift rifle grenades!)

Personaly I was going to have the default blast radius, with the addition of shrapnel. So it’s also going to be a minor game of chance if your going to survive.

Like people 10m away can be hit by a lucky scrap, but if your pretty close you will take the blast AND whatever is thrown your way.

Like when it explodes, I whould love to see the scrap have a visible projectile trail.

Randomizing the effectiveness of grenades isn’t really a plus in itself. The greatest pro to having shrapnel with ballistics, rather than just a volume with damage drop off, is that it would make taking cover actually effective.
