Your “handguards” were questionable for sure.
Full auto conversions are complicated. You can make it real full auto by taking apart the action, and installing an auto-sear. You can also make it fauxtomatic with lightning links, a binary trigger, which fires when the trigger is pulled and when it’s released, and is very prone to misfiring, and a bump stock, shoelace, or belt loop to make the firerate unpredictable and the recoil uncontrollable.
Also, why not have a system of swappable uppers for the vast variety of AR-15 type weapons? It would make sense to have them spawn in particular civilian houses, and makes it worth looking around in cities for that special gun you want.
