Creation of vehicles from wreckage?

I do not mean the “Makeshift Vehicles”, but rather vehicles like “APC” and “Ambulance” or “Police Car”.

of the type:

From the wreckage you make the “bodywork” and other important parts of the vehicles.
From the Cloth make the “seats” and other less important parts.

and so on, what do you think?

I would disagree with this, it is very unrealistic to build a car given a few parts such as a seat, body, and engine. This would make for a more unrealistic game.

you are so undescriptive, I have no idea what you are suggesting

So not made from scratch, but from broken vehicles?

I described badly what I mean, for example: you can find the car in a mechanic in the map, in another house you find the engine, in another find the exhaust, and so on, when you have everything go from the body and many all the pieces, including doors and other details. let’s put it this way.

but of which, with a bit of difficulty, the body can be created. but I think it will have to be something too complex to do

Yes, broken vehicles found here and there for the map.

I changed the title to reflect that then. I think it was a cause of the confusion.

It would still be incredibly ridiculous to assemble something like a military grade APC from parts. That kind of thing is done by highly trained workers in the military with the aid of a factory full of equipment, not by some random civilian.

Don’t even get me started on how unbalanced this would be.

I think it depends on how much of the vehicle is left that you’re building from. If the “wreckage” you’re starting from is just the chassis, than it seems a bit much to be able to repair it, but if all you’re needing to replace are things like doors, hatches, windows, tires, treads, headlights, or upholstery, that seems quite reasonable for an ordinary survivor to do, though maybe with a higher mechanic skill you could install those parts faster, make those parts harder to break off, or be less likely to damage the parts as you install them.

I’m fine with being an expanded on car mechanic system (finding a car with just its frame and a few other parts somewhere, eventually repairing it by finding replacement parts and such), but I see no reason to be able to rebuild APCs and other similar vehicles. Makes zero sense and is unbalanced.

it would be cool, but dont count on it. nelson wouldnt be able to pull this off, he probably got vehicles working right now, so i doubt he would even think about rewriting them
unless you mean just replacable/installable parts based on what kind of body youre installing/replacing them, i dont think this should be crazy-hard to do

The way I see it, it’s more balanced to have to repair an APC, than for the Random Number Gods to gift you one that’s fully functional, with good tires, a charged battery, a full tank of gas, all the doors and windows already installed, and a fully loaded HMG on top.

Yeah hang on bro just putting together my DIY M1 Abrams

How about simply making these car wreckages salvagable for heaps of scrap metal? Also chance to recover car parts like a wheel or an engine to use for a makeshift car, or a complex craft.

Or make cars have the same level of customization as firearms do now, and “wrecked cars” are basically just cars missing lots of random things.

^basically what I was thinking, though the question of how broken a vehicle can get before it should be beyond repair still remains.

Ok. So basically creating a vehicle fron parts you find.

I think so. The original post still seems a bit unclear to me, (I’m not sure how well it was translated from Italian) so I’m not 100% sure whether they meant wreckage can be broken into parts that are then crafted into vehicles (like Yarrrr seemed to think) or whether wrecked cars would serve as the core of a vehicle that you can add parts onto to create a functioning vehicle (like Molt suggested). I think I would prefer the latter, but either would be a step up from getting cars by just randomly stumbling across one that is basically already ready to go.

Y’all, it’s pretty obvious what he means. He means the wrecked vehicles around the map. (and maybe vehicles destroyed by players.)

There.
