My bad, he actually said this in the recent Devlog, stating that exiting a vehicle could be separate from opening doors and such iirc.

Police don’t like to use doors as cover because the suspect may have a higher caliber with a lot of penetration. They usually glued the trunk or engine area as cover
The police also have no reason to use doors as cover because of the windows and it being very small, but one meter away there is the back of the car which provides alot more cover
Ex-police Crown Vics often still have Kevlar padding in the doors. Doesn’t mean it’ll stop everything though so it’s rarely used as protection.
