Unless the shot you’re taking involves the bullet spending at least one second in the air, wind shouldn’t be too significant with ballistics; however I do think it would be fitting to have, say, strong winds significantly affect mid-range and long range gunnery.
Keem in mind that none of us likes the bullet drop update this might be added so that new players (which unturned 4.0 will have planty of) will have an even harder time shooting cuz in real life you dont just give people a sniper and tell them to hit someting 1 km away
At first nobody liked it cuz they couldn’t shoot but quickly adaptes to it but i do agree that it is easy to compensate for the bullet drop and that is why i came ip with this
You like quoting “everybody”, care to tell us who they are?
Out of the couple hundred people in my circle of Steam friends at the time, I haven’t heard a single one ever complain about bullet drop, except to say that it wasn’t enough.
As long as the mechanics are consistent it would be really cool. You could probably also have tools that tell you the wind speed to account for it. The harder it is to snipe the better imo because it increases the skill cap
I am envisioning it as a bad makeshift one that gives you an estimate and then a accurate military one that tells you exactly how much wind there is. It shouldnt totally effect your shots, assuming there isnt a range cap like in 3.0 so you should be able to hit close (300m) shots most of the time
Just saying, wind isn’t constant. It can be blowing one direction in one place, and in a different direction in another. Also buildings change the flow of wind. Your only gauge on wind direction and speed would be watching the trees, grass, foliage, and waves on the water to figure out the wind pattern. Not to mention there are updrafts and downdrafts as well.
Overall, wind is pretty complicated and really depends on how good the weather system is gonna be in Unturned 2.
wind is more complicated than that. 20 feet (@Mr.Snowy 6 meters) in front of you it may not be blowing, or it may be blowing harder, or the other direction.
