there could be a way to craft a gun mount with certain materials depending where you want to put it (on a platform, on sandbags, on a vehicle) so when you craft the gun mount you place it maybe on the roof of a house and then you can put a m2 browning 50 Cal ,dragon fang, sniper rifles, normal rifles like m4a1, AR 15 or maybe a scar, and when you have the gun mount you can grip onto the gun mount and shoot
So basically a turret that you can place like a barricade, and use like a normal gun. I’m not entirely sure, but I think this is planned/already suggested.
Havent seen anything saying its fully planned, but he mentioned it in latest devlog. As long as these have a fairly long set up time it would be fine, and its always fun to mow down zombies.
Mounted turrets have been suggested quite a bit, and like @anon67155151 said, Nelson directly mentioned mounted turrets in Devblog #16.
I definitely think they’d be interesting and add an extra dynamic to base defense, or simply laying heavy fire down on a huge horde of Turned.
rationale
I wouldn’t say that weapon mounts necessarily need to be balanced by a long set up time. They already have the huge drawback of making the player immobile, and no one has suggested what benefits they would actually provide. Both of those downsides would be completely irrelevant if you’ve placed the weapon mount on a vehicle. Some possible benefits of using a weapon mount would be making recoil more controllable, removing scopesway, increasing accuracy, or allowing weapons that would be completely exhausting to attempt to run around with. If weapon mounts are used as something to balance weapons that have too high power, capacity, or rate of fire, than I would argue that those mounts should not be something that can be crafted and placed anywhere on any map, instead those should be something that mapmakers can choose whether or not to place or have spawn points for. Craftable gun mounts that offer the same benefits as a bipod, but to a slightly greater degree I would be fine with, but not if they’re used to mount HMGs, autocannons, or railguns I’m gonna have to disagree.
suggestions
Weapons mounts that are needed to mount heavy weapons should not be craftable. Map makers should be able to choose to place those mounts in specific locations on their map, to have vehicles or items that can mount those weapons in their spawn tables, or to exclude those weapons and mounts entirely. These mounts would offer great buffs to recoil control, accuracy, scope sway, etc. to any weapon that is mounted on them, but would be slow to aim.
Craftable weapon mounts should not be able to hold weapons that a player wouldn’t be able to use without a mount. These mounts should offer buffs between those of a heavy weapons mount and a bipod, but not have the same penalty to aim as heavy weapons mounts.
