I’m trying to edit workshop maps that are not mine, I’ve watched every single youtube video on it, which is around 5. I still can’t edit the maps and instead I can only play them in single player but not edit them. I would try to make a map myself but I have no clue how to use the spawn tables and there are not many videos on that topic that are recent. if someone can help me with just one of these problems would be a life saver because I’m trying to make a server with a custom map and loot tables. Edit: I would also like to know how to expand airdrop loot size.
(I do not endorse re-uploading any content on the workshop, especially that of which you did not get explicit approval of the original uploader, please be responsible.)
It’s rather simple, and only takes a few steps.
(This also works for curated.)
Step 1.)
- Locate the map. More often than not, it can be located under C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\workshop\content\304930. 304930 being Unturned’s Steam ID.
- Locate the Curated/Workshop map. If you don’t know exactly which folder it is, you can find the Workshop file ID in the original Steam Workshop page you subscribed to it at. The ID can be found in browser and Steam Launcher browser by looking for the URL.
Example: The original link to the Elver map workshop page is;
Steam Workshop::Elver
Judging on the URL ending in ‘2136497468’, that would also be the folder Elver would be located in under the Workshop folder on your computer/laptop.
Step 2.)
- Once you have found the map, keep that file explorer tab open. Open a new text file by using Microsoft Notepad. Use Ctrl+S or save as a new file.
- Copy the path from the workshop file to the save window.
(Make sure you save it along side the map data files, instead of just outside the file folder, or it will not work!!!) - Under the save file name, save file type as ‘All Files’, and rename the text file to ‘.unlocker’.
Step 3.)
- Make sure you do not have Unturned open. If so, you have to relaunch the game (I found using the ‘Page Up’ key to reload doesn’t work every time).
From then on, the map should be accessible from the in game editor.
(A little word of advice, gun, food, and armor stats can directly be edited in the same workshop file folder location. Vehicle speeds, storage and clothing storage slots can also be edited from the ‘.dat’ files. If you already know this, I suggest reading the SDG Unturned Documentation avaliable at Unturned Documentation — Unturned 0.1 documentation)
If there’s anything else, or if I’m stupid and didn’t explain it properly, please tell me and I’ll try to clarify the best of my ability.
