Unequip animations when?

Title. As an option for items, since making it a must for stuff like all vanilla items can be tedious.

It should also have the option to be cancellable to prevent playing the equipping and unequipping anims repeatedly.

Well, animations for unequip is actually a good idea. Not cool when guns and items just disappear from your hand. I think this might be a really good idea for animations improvement.

I think adding unequip animations will break all animations made already

As long as Nelson does it right, I don’t think it would.

Like, he’d just need to code it where items that don’t have a unequip anim specified just do what they do right now.

It could be easily added by just making the equip animation of the item being played reversed x2 faster when unequipped

So it wouldn’t required to add new animations to each item, or it wouldn’t break anything, it would just reproduce the same existent equip animation but in reverse and faster

True. It can be another option for convenience, especially if the animation is simple enough that it works reversed.

I disagree with this approach. Reversing the animation is not enough, it’s mainly because of how fucked the animation will feel. Eg. Equip animation is something falling on to the players hands, the end of the fall is fast due to the velocity it has picked up, now reverse that and it will not make sense.

So Nelson will have to work hard to make them look good. Most likely they will have to be made from scratch, as this is a separate thing.
