When I create a map in the Editor, make terrain (and work for 2 hours on the map), save, quit and re-enter the terrain disappears. I loaded the map in singleplayer, the terrain had disappeared as well.

Try to create a tile first, edit the terrain on it and save the map.

Make sure to create tiles for all the areas you want to edit.

One small question, are tile entirely one material ?
Each tile can have up to 8 materials placed on it. You can however use different materials between the tiles (meaning you can go above the 8 material limit).
