Unturned II vehicles and mechanic skill

After watching the vehicles in the beta a giant string of suggestions crossed through my head involving mechanic skillset and the new vehicles so i’ll keep it as simple as i can.
Unturned 2’s mechanic skills should allow the player(aside from faster repairs like right now).the ability to modify/tune their car with practical adjustments.
Example:
Having the mechanic skill past X rank will allow the player to tune the suspension and adjust it’s ride height.Where a higher ride height will make it easier to offroad(and maybe at the cost of fuel economy like real life) this could help the sedans with offroading but it still won’t be as good as a Jeep.
The mechanic can also have the ability to install potential upgrades.Like Better offroad tires,a offroad suspension,Run flat tires(tires that are resistant to popping).
I think you guys get the idea, the mechanic can modify cars better to make them better. Some cars will be more modifiable than others of course.
Lemme know what you guys think

I also think that since there are different seasons then in the winter where it’s snowy you would have to put snow tires (chains around the tire) to move better around in the snow :stuck_out_tongue:

I think this would be a pretty cool suggestion. Maybe cars could be worked on using the car lifts that are usually found in the mechanic buildings?

Sounds cool, maybe even let us go full C:DDA on it and be able to attach spikes and stuff to the sides and whatnot, but with a weight limit to it so you can’t just fill the sides with barbed wire like right now. IE: You could just weld a bunch of metal plates onto it and make it indestructible, but it’s not gonna move.

Awsome sugestion I agree.with everything you said but in my opinion cars should be able to be.customized visually to for example paint.

I really like the paint customization part, but everything else you guys are saying like, custom ride height etc seems a little bit too much. There are whole games based off fully customizing cars, and if Nelson decided to add this thats a couple of more months we have to wait. But don’t get me wrong I think this sounds like I great Idea, but maybe a little too much.

Most ride height modification possibilities aren’t that much.As in you can’t make the 10 times higher. But a bit to help you offroad until you can find a better car for the job

I see what your saying and it would be really cool and I would like to see as much customization options as possible, but it doesn’t seem that necessary to have 1 car with a bunch of customization options, when there will prolly be a bunch of vehicles with different advantages. I.e. an off roader going fast off road, a roadster going faster on road. But now thinking of it I totally support the idea of snow tires, because we can already remove tires in 3.x and it would be cool if we could switch them out for chained tires in the snow for better traction.

Maybe instead of having an adjustable suspension system, we could just have a different “off-road suspension” like you suggest later on.

Instead of having the skill system limit actions a player can do, I would argue that the skill system should just limit how efficiently the player can do those actions.

ie: Instead of being unable to replace the suspension because you’ve only grinded mechanic XP by replacing tires 49 times, when you need to do it 50 times, you should have to consider the fact that as an unskilled mechanic you will take longer and almost certainly do a significant amount of damage to the suspension system that you’re taking out and the one that you’re installing but that replacing one more tire isn’t going to instantly make you a master at replacing suspension.

So you’re suggesting turning vehicles into indestructible bases.s

That’s actually what i originally meant. My bad on the writing part.English isn’t my primary language
