How often does that even provide any advantage though? I remember seeing guides back in the day on the RBG colours of all the official map’s grass colours, but oftentimes you’ll still get shot regardless.

Its still an advantage. Being the color of the grass makes blending into a bush or the grass alot easier.
That implies being fully naked, as soon as you wear anything else you can get spotted fairly easy. Not to mention that it applies to clothing itself, wear only green cloths and it’ll basically be the same thing.
You can get a ghillie suit and it would give you the same advantage.

P2W Advantages of Gold Upgrade:
•Ability to door-camp fully naked while blending in with grass.
•Ability to look like a zombie to potentially avoid being killed.
•Ability to store loot in an unraidable vault in the form of other characters.
•Ability to log off with a character that you aren’t using, inside someone else’s base.
•Ability to log off while being chased, and simply switch character until enemy goes away.

Servers can disable the ability to use multiple characters, but by default it’s enabled.

Until someone turns off details/sneezes on you.
Players don’t have access to the same animations, thus anyone with a working brain will almost instantly realise that it’s a player.
All of these are rather minor, most games that players don’t consider P2W have way more than just 5 minor to negligible advantages.
