A 4.0 Barricades and Structures concept

As a quick precursor to this post, my PC is currently out of service. I should receive a new AIO cooler either Monday or Tuesday. Until then this post will be rather barebones because my phone really doesn’t like when I try to write big long paragraphs like I’m known for doing. I’ll update it when I get the chance.

  1. Merging barricades.
    By merging two similar items, you’ll be able to save space and create a more efficient barricade or structure. Some examples would be Wooden Spikes + Wooden Barricade = Wooden spiked barricade. Although you could do this by placing spikes in front of the wooden panels, it’d compact the overall unit and look more badass. Cage Lights would also be able to be merged with Signposts, for an inward-facing light that’d illuminate whatever is written. Auto-watering planters could be crafted by combining a planter with a rain barrel, and assuming 4.0 has a watering mechanic for crops, it’d use rainwater or stored water within to automatically water crops when needed. I’m sure there’s other examples but let me know what you’d find most useful if combined.

  2. Painting Structures
    Paint would occasionally spawn in hardware stores, and would be applied to walls, pillars, floors and roof, etc. It’d spawn in the classic 8 Unturned variety colors (red, blue, green, yellow, orange, black, white, and purple), and would be a fun way to personalize your base or maybe even camouflage it.

  3. Remote Control Sentries
    By using a control terminal or computer hooked up to a power grid that possesses sentries powered by it, you would be able to manually switch through them and take control, but downsides would be rotation/tilt speed nerfs and a fire rate decrease.

  4. Cameras
    By using a control terminal or computer, you could set up cameras around your base to keep watch over it, with the same controls and prerequisites as RC Sentries, only no immediate defensive use would be present. They’d cycle through picture-in-picture display on a control monitor.

  5. specialized sentries
    By crafting new Sentries, you could have ones more suited to sniper rifles (detection and firing range buff?), Anti-air use (use a minigun and it deals more damage to inbound aircraft?), or just a reinforced sentry with more health and durability due to armor plating.

I feel like a neat idea would be to be able to code turrets and cameras. Like if you want it to shoot moving entities, record video and send alert when moving entity is seen, and auto rotate 160 degrees or higher. The lines of code could be like:

If detect moving entity, fire;

Rotate(“160”);

Alert when detect moving entity;

Warn entity(“leave this area immediately”);

@Panda3d guess you mean motion tracking. which would be a cool addition to the game.

I could imagine there being some lovely utility/security circuits one could make with these and a presumably expanded electronics system.

Proximal motion detector sets off a loud alarm as well as tripping auxiliary power, which routes to internal sentries and other defenses. Photoresistors can detect when it turns to nighttime, activating perimeter lighting and sun lamps for your farm, as well as a few CCTV cameras. A humidity sensor detects a particularly dry day and dispenses water through your irrigation system to feed your crops.

There’s lots of places to go with this, and I think proper wiring would be a good start.

Simple yet elegant. I think I’ve suggested this previously way back in the days of /r/unturned, and I wholeheartedly agree.

Hybridized deployables would be very interesting indeed.

Maybe even wire a generator to a barbed wire fence with exposed lines, electrifying the fence for reliable protection against curious animals and humans alike!
