Crazy Idea: Linked Maps

I was thinking the jet would only wreck if you wreck it, but that most maps wouldn’t have many good runways until you clear/repair/build them. This way, once you’ve got an airfield, and established petrochemical production in each region, the only risk in traveling back and forth comes from your own piloting skills.

Well I was more of thinking of a similar approach to mini dayz. Download it on the AppStore and you will understand. Basically to progress to the next island, you need a boat and to get it you gotta repair it. But you wreck it at the next island and it becomes unusable. Also, if the runway needs repairing, wouldn’t it damage the plane landing it in the first place?

But once you have two runways you can travel back and forth between the them without crashing everytime

maybe, that could work

While we’re talking about minecraft servers, RIP minecats

this post explains everything

I think if a server wants to, they could host up to four maps that can link to one another (this needs to be done in each map’s level editor, no randomly going from official to workshop maps with no support and the like).

There’d probably be a config of some kind, like:

CanLink[Mapname]:true

CanLinkOtherMaps[Mapname]:true/false

Example: Map is Germany

CanLinkOtherMaps[Germany]:true

CanLink[Russia]:true

Maps not listed would not show up. Disabling linking would prevent other maps from linking to it.

There would have to be some kind of requirement, likely at least a working vehicle and perhaps a gas can. The areas of travel between maps would probably be tunnels with fancy roadblocks and such. Each should be a safezone, but there’s still the threat of getting shot up once you go outside of it.

Example, using current 3.0 maps:

A server hosts Germany, Russia, Greece, and the upcoming France map (I needed a europe map don’t hate me for the fact it’s not out yet). You could link up maps like PEI or Russia together, but most servers probably would like to be somewhat reasonable in regards to that.

All of these maps support one another and you can travel from one to another. A player, after gearing up in Russia brings his APC over to Greece and sets up a base there. He makes use of the firearms and gear found only in Russia as well as the gear in Greece. He travels to Germany later on, setting up a base there.

Obviously a simple tunnel isn’t quite realistic considering the distance but I think it’d be fine.

Overall I think servers should have the option to link up to four maps, provided they support each other. This would be quite intensive though, as up to four instances of the game would be running at all times, so probably only a few bigger server networks would have this. Still, it’d be neat.

Major problem: Synced items

[Remember 2.0’s sync? But with maps? OP for me, but cool suggestion, respect opinions kids. (Actually I shoudnt write remember because I played 2.0 a month before 3.0 came out so I’m not that of a veteran)]
