Since the Dragonfang is based off the M249 SAW, i think the Dragonfang should be able to take 5.56 NATO mags and drums for a backup if you have no more boxes.
Imagine unironically believing a M249 can feed from a magazine without any problems.

It *can. assuming you adjust it for magazine feed (which you canât since lol itâll feed the exact same as a belt ⌠right guysâŚ?)
Youâre right. It âââcan,â"" but itâs horribly unreliable, like .30-06 Chauchat levels of malfunctions. This is because the spring often has difficultity feeding the rounds faster than the gun can shoot them, and it also has a tendency to chew the feed lips of said magazine.
The Negev, on the other hand, has no such problems.

FNâs finest failure was the magazine-fed M249.
Also, Iâd like to point out that it looks like a Japanese Type 100 on meth.
Funny how FN Herstal has an issue that an Israeli firearms manufacturer fixed.
Negev actually looks pretty good using a standard magazine instead of being belt-fed.
Notice how the magazine isnât sticking out like a sore thumb.
Context for the nons
FN Herstal is most widely known (by the non-gun nuts of course) to have designed and manufactured the FN Scar product line, mainly the FN Scar-L and FN Scar-H.
The Negev was manufactured by IWI, which is Israel Weapon Industries. IWI is actually a subsystem of IMI, which stands for Israel Military Industries. IWI was originally the small-arms division, which later privatized and renamed. IMI, on the other hand, is widely known for their Desert Eagle. (Chambers largest centerfire cartridge of any pistol)
The Japanese Type 100 was a submachine gun manufactured and used during World War II. It was made in 2 variants, that being known as the Type 100/40, and the Type 100/44.

iâm not sure if the m249 can properly take drum mags due to where the magwell is
And it would be sagging to the left.
I think it should be a feature but the gun would jam more frequently as pointed out earlier.
Iirc the m249 is belt fed only. If you run out of boxes you could use single-use belts withouth the box, but the belt would be swinging around and potentially get mud/snow/some other crap on it it could change the type of the bullet to âdirtyâ which degrades the weapon more and is more likely to jam.
Yeah, that was my point more or less. Could get fixed via adjustable gfas system (or possibly colder loads, but I did not do the math and chances are you wouldnât wante colder loads form smaller mags, shit combo)
Dual front grips ad that dinky folder might be practicial but it sure as hell ainât asthetically pleasing. Wokrs miles better than the Minimi tho. Also not veery sidefeeder witha curved mag is a Type 100.
I think it might make more sense to be able to fill the dragonfang Box with military magazine / drum and vice versa.
Muh realism, who cares about real life feasibility of this action. I think itâs a good idea to have LMG which doubles as AR with standard mags.
I wouldnât really mind guns having the ability to use magazines from other guns, though that would mean that the game could deviate from that aspect in realism. Although it could be countered by adding limits to what magazines every gun could use (e.g. Can use clip belt/box, magazine, individual round)
That is if Nelson wants to go traditional. Otherwise he can go with it regardless of âMechanical faultsâ based on real-life.
Yes, i was going to point that out but i forgot
i think while weâre at it, we should also fix the augewehrâŚ
the unturned gun is so unrealistic, why is the magazine so far back ?? it looks so odd!!
this is how it looks like irl ( i know because iâve been around guns since young baby, had first glock at age of 2 and a half) v v v
I donât want to see that thing ever again starting in the next hour
That is not a normal Aug a1
