In 3 when we created our avatar we can choose an expression that will stay on his face all the time, and that’s a nice feature, however I think in unturned II our character could make a different facial expression in some situations, an angry expression when giving a punch, an expression of pain when shot of a opponet, and even expressions of discomfort when we have a broken bone, with cold heat, hunger and thirst.
below are some examples i did please forgive me for the bad art.
yes,i make this in ‘‘paint’’
I think the current implementation is fine, honestly. I prefer the swappable facewheel over any kind of automatic facial changes. Adds some comedy, IMO
I think emotional expressions should be only selectable, but when you take damage you’ll get the pain face for some time, depending on damage dealt, and when you are dead, your face will be a dead face until you turn into a Turned.
Selectable expressions continued, this is unique to situations such as those cited, It is an additional aesthetic suggestion, does not interfere with current mechanics
Perhaps an option in settings for your characters facial features to change based on your surroundings, or leave it off to change your face yourself?
It’s something separate I’ll give you an example, you set your character to have a smile, you fall and break your leg so the character makes a pained expression, and then comes back to the smile, and you can change the character’s face at any time @Aj_Gaming
Considering faces have been turned into straight-lined vector graphics rather than just pixels on the face, I’d say this is definitely within the realm of possibility.
Face changes definitely should only apply to very specific and/or short-term circumstances (taking damage, being too hot/cold, death, etc.), and those expressions should not be options for customization. I think that last point is very important so that there is a clear line between expressions happening from stimuli, and just the normal, blinkless stare the character normally gives.
(Speaking of not blinking, can we also please get more idle animations such as blinking to feel more alive?)
But then I think it will ruin the Unturned feeling and communication a bit because like in 3.0 if you have control over your face so you can have better and more fun communication.
The only thing I like is a dead face with those X’s maybe.
I think you can still change facial expression if you wish, pain expression, thirst etc will be unique to specific situations.
The suggestion is an extra detail, you will still be able to change the expressions.
This would actually add to the gameplay, and allow you to more carefully pick your fights if you could tell status effects from the looks or face.
I believe it is a good idea!
Personally, I think such things as dynamic facial expressions, idle movements, and so on. They give the character a more “human” touch, they no longer look like just a bunch of blocks with some polygons and texture, and they look more “alive” and can even help to empathize with the character.
What about owo
How about no no
This is quite cool. It would be amazing if they can change based on your current situation, such as whether you are hungry, injured, etc.
It’d be interesting to see how expressions would affect the workflow for developing different face customization options. Unless Nelson just went with a couple of fairly similar face types, he’d likely want to make a set of expressions for each face.
May or may not see something like the heart face, anomaly eyes, zombie face, or money face appear on players at all. Or, perhaps each expression would be the same for every face and it’s just the idle expression that matches your face type.
The only facial change that I think would be nice is one that would show on death.
