Instead of “drugstore” or “pharmacy”, put some cool fictitious names like “Medicine One” or “protowell” for pharmacys, and “Torino Space” for a wagon vehicle, it would bring a differential to the unturned universe, make it more immersive. Let me know what you guys thing about that!
For naming things -whether they are buildings, vehicles, weapons, attachments, clothing or food- I see three options:
- use real world names (i.e. m4a1)
– could cause legal issues.
– could be restrictive as each item would need to clearly and accurately match one specific real world counterpart. - use descriptive names (i.e. assault rifle)
– Would be rather bland
– Eventually names would get quite long to differentiate similar items. (i.e. Common American Military Assault Rifle) - use fictional names (i.e. Eaglefire)
– could be restrictive as each item would need to have an easily distinguishable and recognizable unique name. - use parodic names (i.e. Emfore)
– Same problems as with fictional and real world names.
The pro about fictional names, is that the community can help creating names.
And I am talking about stores and cars, cause there’s already a thread abou guns, and it is a separated issue.
Yeah, but the pros and cons apply to everything, that post is old, and it would be nice if there were a consistency to the naming styles.
I’m sure guns are the only ones that would fit with a custom name
There’s gta style game in development in Brazil, their team created some cool names for the cars, search for it.
use parodic names (i.e. Emfore)
that is literally just a subcategory of fictional names
Ehh, I dunno. It’s basically spelling the gun in teenager text language. Hey look at that EhUUEm (AWM). Or hey you took my Tee M Pë (tmp). I really don’t know what this would be classified under, but not fictional because you are still nameing the real life counterpart.
fine, fucking, v e r b o s e names
are you happy
You cant get sued for parody names.
