Future of Crafting Mythicals in Unturned

Crafting has been in Unturned for a long long time now and I think it was a great addition to the game as it spiced up Unturned’s trading quite a bit. As someone who used to be very much into crafting I think it’s quite sad to see it go since there is no more supply of skins to be scrapped for crafting to be possible as each crafted Mythical costs 1000 Crafting Materials. I would like to suggest another way to craft Mythicals, maybe some sort of a “Crafting Token” that would be purchasable from Stockpile that would let player craft 1 Mythical. I would suggest the price being anywhere between 5-15$ as that’s what majority of people who crafted Mythicals paid/1000 crafting materials. Another reason to make it “cheap” like this is that 90% of Mythicals that will be crafted will be worth around 0.50-2$ when it comes to re-selling them. It’s difficult to write all this into a single post as this is a pretty complex theme. (Yes very serious Unturned trading theme)

I think for the longterm health of the unturned skins marketplace and players who have dedicated their time and hard earned money towards the game, adding something that both supports the game and allows the community to access something that is now impossible would improve the experience for many players. adding something like a “crafting token” for a little more than box prices could be super cool and add alot more particle effect skins into the economy

I actually don’t want Mythical Crafting to change. I like the way it is right now. Simple and good.
I really want to see Free skins for playing back. It will make crafting mythicals easier.

If crafting skins does start to feel unattainable, one option would also be to reduce the number of crafting materials needed to make one.

Indeed, that is also a solution.

I would Love to see this solution.

We received some further feedback suggesting the purchasable crafting materials route. How about if we made crafting materials tradable again, plus made them marketable? Then for players who want to purchase them they’d be available in bulk on the Steam community market.

Well, this is also a good option. I think a lot of players want the return of Free skins from the game just by playing it. Return this system  I know the reasons why you removed this but game needs it.

Making crafting materials tradable is just a quality of a life change, making them un-tradable didn’t change anything other than that when purchasing crafting materials off of people who were providing, buyers would have to scrap the items themselves. Making them marketable is in my opinion also not a great idea as Steam Community Market items can’t be listed for lower than 0.03 Euro, which at 1000 crafting materials/1 crafted mythical would mean price would stand at 30 Euro/1 crafted mythical. 30 Euro/crafted mythical would be more expensive than just buying Uncommon items for 0.03 Euro and scrapping them to get the price down to 15 Euro/crafted mythical (Method some people have used in the past). Another issue this will bring into existence is currency abuse as some countries have currencies that are way below the price of Euro so something that’d cost 30 Euro for some people might be equivalent of around 10-15 Euro in their currency (This is method that is used now to get cheap crafting materials ever since all accounts that were “farming” free drops were shut down, abandoned, banned or ran out of stock). Best options to solve this that I can think of are:

1: Remove crafting mythicals completely (In order to prevent more skins that used to be easily obtainable as free drops from being removed forever.) (Yes I do know that these common/uncommon skins weren’t too popular but they all had their respective enjoyers and we should not overlook them just because there isn’t many of them).

2: Lower the amount needed to craft a mythical to maybe 500 crafting materials instead of 1000.

3: Make a crafting token that was mentioned before (This would also make crafting mythicals more accessible for wider audience as getting large quantities of crafting materials is and always was only for people who had contact to “scrap dealers”)

I don’t want to sound like I am “demanding” anything, I just think that crafting mythicals was and still is a very cool thing that just isn’t in any other game (as far as I know) that makes Unturned trading truly special and unique.

craft token thing would be insane ngl half of my life went to scraping uncommon items

Interesting point about the minimum-priced Uncommon items on the market.

Personally, I think that the minimum-priced items suggest that there are far more than players want. i.e., the people who want the Common/Uncommon skins already have them. I think a benefit of the crafting system is turning these extra items into items that players are more likely to want.

TF2 actually has a similar feature with their “scrap metal”! You can use it to craft regular items, but not Unusual items as far as I know. Part of how they handle the value of the individual scrap items is a crafting feature to merge them into bigger items.

Perhaps an analogous feature would be crafting a “crafting token”?

For the meantime, I’m feeling curious about unlocking Crafting Materials and will enable that as an experiment.

Crafting Token seems like the best answer to this whole “problem”, it would preserve unobtainable Common/Uncommon items. Making crafting materials marketable won’t change anything as problem is not the distribution, but rather the supply itself. It will be interesting tho to see how will making crafting materials marketable/tradable affect the market.

So in next update you want to rework Crafting system? Also, is there any way to see how many mythical crafts have I made in my entire history? If there is no way for now to see such stat then could you add this in Crafting update please
I also don’t understand a “crafting token” thing. Is it like a token to specify which rarity you are crafting or what is it?

The way me and most other people imagine Crafting Token is that it could be a purchasable Stockpile thing, just like buying Boxes. Purchasing Crafting Token would give you an item like a Box which you could use to get any random crafted mythical. Basically crafting a random mythical but instead of paying with 1000 scrap you’d pay with cash.

If it is like you described then I don’t like this idea. I like that with token you can choose rarity for your skin.

Making that takes away from the whole purpose of crafting being random. Point of making a crafting token is preserving common/uncommon items. Also making crafting more accessible for wider audience of people. It’s much easier to purchase a crafting token than to go and get 1000 items and then scrap 1000 items.

Scrapping is fun. It makes me train my aim with my mouse, I like this proccess so much.

If you planning on crafting 1 mythical than sure, but crafting anything above 5 becomes extremely frustrating, especially with the RAM issues game now has and the extreme lag scrapping fast causes. You clearly haven’t scrapped more than 10K items before.

I did 7k scrapping it took me 1 hour
