Well I dont think we know enough about the game to really have a good guess sinc the map might not be fully done yet (and pineridgrge is from what i can understand only a test map so it might not even be related to the lore/story) and we have not seen anything about the turned yet. But my guess from what we have seen to this time is that it might be from just a number of days into the apocalyps or even a whole year, but its just a guess
In 3.0 it’s pretty ‘Recent’. I think someone said it’s set at around 2018 according to lore notes.
People would be relying on portable electric generators to produce energy. Some genius has found an easy way to manufacture them by hand.
Gas cans are the only way to refuel vehicles. When gas station fuel reserves run out, people would be forced to harvest their own using pump jacks (Forget about crude oil, this is Unturned). You can say that, like in any apocalyptic scenario, fuel is one of the most valuable things to have.
Initially people eat what they can from stores. Organic food is probably rotten, and packaged food will either run out or stored by survivors as emergency food. People will have to recreate the renewable cycle of farming or hunter-gatherer life style (Animals and wild produce) to be able to sustain themselves.
If the new game was more realistic, there would have to be something that would make the magical generators more harder to craft (e.g. Requiring a extremely valuable item) and there would be an extra process when harvesting fuel from pump jacks (e.g. Needs another machine to refine it).
Can’t think of anything else but that’s all I can say
for Unturned II, im kinda hoping it will be several years, as by that point it feels a lot more apocalyptic, and you get more survivor camps set up, as well as everything being hard to come by. You probably would be more likely to find food in a house rather than a grocery store tbh.
Personally I’d hope maybe a few months after the initial apocalypse. By that time, I’d say most cars would probably have probably either rusted or be destroyed by the apocalypse since there’s no way to keep them clean but also, what happens when zombies don’t have anything to eat? If it is several years I’d say most of the zombies have died or resorted to cannibalism, further decreasing the population. Guns would be ultra rare unless found on a dead person and fuel would of pretty much been used up in all petrol stations.
A few months after the apocalypse makes the most sense as (assuming they’ll be added) bandit NPCs would definitely be around, an international coalition would most likely be around as well. In the stores, a lot of long life products or ones that last for a while such as canned beans should be edible if they’re not taken already. Guns and vehicles could be found and more than likely in a decent condition, and fuel, while still harder to find, could be a commodity that isn’t going to take a flight to Saudi Arabia to retrieve. As well as that, unless someone’s dropping nukes on the cities, most infrastructure that doesn’t rely on signals or constant maintenance could be intact.
This discussion spawns more than just a ‘how long into the apocalypse are we’ type question, it’s more about what the effects are. Some may envision cities where skyscrapers have fallen onto each other and the roads look like they’ve been blown up, but would a virus that makes people into mindless zombies have caused that? I suppose in the end it’s up to Nelson on how far in we are.
a few months after the initial apocalypse. By that time, I’d say most cars would probably have probably either rusted or be destroyed by the apocalypse since there’s no way to keep them clean
I just wanna mention this makes absolutely no sense, especially on more modern cars, not to mention rust doesn’t just ‘‘Appear’’ on a car
the more likely thing is that there will be a few parts not working as intended as it’s been sitting on a parking lot for a while, but apart from that, it should be okay to drive
most infrastructure that doesn’t rely on signals or constant maintenance could be intact.
I agree with this %100, people are raiding stores and stuff but no one is going to go out of their way to destroy telephone lines or something
skyscrapers have fallen onto each other
I just wanna point out most modern skyscrapers are designed with a violet ton of fail-safes and some can even stand with several support beams missing, so unless someone went out of their way to produce explosives en masse then detonate them on the exact right spots to hit the main support beams of the building, they would stand as is
Tbh I’d just say that over several years, most cars are going to be destroyed somehow in an apocalypse, whether it be by zombies or humans.
I used that to point out some of the things I’ve seen people suggest/seen in 3.0 maps. Personally I think making the game look like it’s had a nuke dropped on it makes it look terrible, yet some would probably disagree.
Anyways, my original point was that if the game was set several years after the apocalypse, these cars being the valuable resource they are would probably be a lot harder to find.
Dude, there are so many cars everywhere that they wouldnt be considered a valuable resource. Perhaps like 10 years into it all, but otherwise, no. perhaps you will get a bunch of cars in places with parts missing and such, but everyone would have multiple working vehicles at the point besides the players. So yeah.
I doubt ZOMBIES would resort to cannibalism, when they are, Ya know, not actually really alive. The goal of the virus is to spread itself, not keep the host alive.
Though, it’s pretty generic that zombies don’t starve to death, well, other than a few specific movies.
Even in the last of us, where the hosts are technically alive, and actually partially conscious, the zombies don’t starve, or have self preservation. (BTW, if you don’t know, the zombies in the last of us are created by a fungus, not a disease.)
Actually, the people still conscious in the zombies in the earlier stages you can sometimes hear them begging you to kill them. Yeah.
No, it wouldn’t. Vehicles would still work, zombies would still be everywhere, people will still be scattered everywhere.
The only differences are that ammo and guns won’t be everywhere, zombies will have sorta spread out of the cities, fires will have stopped burning, stuff will be more overgrown, giving a more apocalyptic feel, and there will be A few long term survivor camps.
It helps the gameplay, not damages it.
Sure, I would agree with you more if the game was based only a few days after, but I don’t think it will be.
