Independent Day and Night Cycles

It would be great to have the ability to run day and night cycles separately in Unturned. Currently, the game’s day and night cycles are linked, meaning adjustments to one affect the other equally. Introducing separate cycle controls would allow for more versatile gameplay and customisation.

Proposed Feature:

  • Separate Day and Night Durations: Allow server administrators to set different durations for day and night times. For example, you could configure the game to have long days and short nights, or vice versa, depending on the desired gameplay experience.
  • Configurable Settings: Implement new settings or commands that enable the adjustment of day and night lengths independently. This could be achieved through a map configuration file or through different modes (I.e. Easy, Normal, Hard) and adjusting it there.

Benefits:

  • Enhanced Customisation: Provides server owners and map creators with the flexibility to tailor game settings to their community’s preferences, creating a more engaging and personalised experience.
  • Increased Immersion: Enables the creation of unique environments and scenarios, enhancing the overall immersion and challenge of the game.

Allowing separate day and night cycles would significantly enrich gameplay by giving more control over environmental conditions.

The length of day/night can actually already be configured separately. (More accurately, the ratio between day length vs. night length.) It’s tied to the “Bias” lighting settings in the level editor. Thank you for the clarification! I understand that the “Bias” lighting settings in the level editor allow for some control over the day/night cycle. However, what I am suggesting is a feature that would enable server owners and players to adjust day and night durations dynamically, without needing to modify the map itself each time.

By having separate controls for day and night lengths through commands or game modes, server administrators could easily tailor the game experience based on community feedback or special events without going through the map editor. This would add an extra layer of flexibility and convenience, enhancing the overall customisation options for different servers and gameplay styles.

I believe this could be a valuable addition for those looking to fine-tune the environment in real-time or make adjustments on the fly to create unique and engaging experiences. Thank you for considering this suggestion!
