Items quality and blueprints suggestion

Here are some suggestions that I came up with that could fit for future item system update.

TLDR for some people:

  • Quality settings for all items
  • Turn on/off quality visibility for item
  • Item quality conditions
  • Currency-like system for conditions and blueprints
  • Settings to control how quality affects items

Okay let’s start

  • All items can be toggled to have quality, this will be useful if you read the suggestion that I wrote later
  • All items can have quality visible toggled off, if some items don’t need quality (like guns or food that have it by default) they can have that percentage that you see in inventory turned off, it’s not much but personally it annoyed me sometimes when I created custom items that I can’t turn that off
  • New Condition settings: Item_Quality_Min and Item_Quality_Max - it would allow for various things but mainly for a better-repairing system, the less condition the item has, the more items are required to repair it.
This could also be used for some quests etc.
  • When crafting, one item passed its quality on another item, I didn’t know how to name that setting nor how could be implemented so I leave it to the devs.
If we have item A with 40% quality and item B with 76% quality if we combine both of them with the blueprint we get item A with 76% quality. Additionally, it would be cool to have the ability to make it so that you get item B with the quality of item A after combining.
  • Currency kind of system but for blueprints or conditions. If we have a few different items but we want them to be counted as the same item for conditions, like for example for metal plate craft we need 4 metal items and we have 1 metal can 2 metal scraps, and 1 nail and we can craft that plate. This is just a simple example and many more exciting things can be made with this.
  • Settings to control how quality affects items. It would be awesome to have better control over how quality affects things like armor, the amount of stats given, and weapon damage, instead of having hardcoded values for that. And it would be great if you could choose ANY item property to be dependent on quality. Like for example player’s speed on clothes, if player’s clothes are have low quality, he will walk slower. It’s just one example of many possibilities.

Thanks for my yap, I hope Nelson will take those suggestions into mind when making item update.

Adding onto this.
I would love to see item conditions being able to affect models and animations.
