is there a way to make a bundle like in curated maps. where i can add whatever objects, items, vehicles i want from curated maps and other mods into the map files and it will actually work without downloading any workshop files (i want to do this because i have so much problems with mods that im just tired seeing all these errors i want to put all mods into one file)
I assume you’re asking if you can extract assets from other mods and then repackage them. Technically, yes, though there is no easy way. To note: it is against steam workshop TOS and you may be banned for reuploading. Some mod authors get away with this by getting prior permission from the original mod authors.
This does not help with many errors at all for the most part and would likely cause problems for your players (assuming others are playing on this map running on a server). Players would get hash mismatch errors due the non-bundled version of a mod being updated.
However, an alternative I suggest is having a collection that is linked as a header in the map description on the workshop. With these collections, users can just click a button that subscribes to all of the required mods, rather than adding them individually.

Nelson, it would help if curated maps were required to put their assets in a separate mod to avoid players uploading the separate bundle on their own. I’ve ran into too many issues where players have the actual map installed and then cannot join their favorite server because the server has a third-party reupload of the map bundle that is outdated.
Understandably many of the assets that come with curated maps are not exactly meant to be used elsewhere, as they were made for that specific map, but so far, every curated map has had their assets used by others. Mind as well just separate the bundles to begin with.
End results of a requirement like this:
- People are less likely to reupload the assets for a map if a separate mod for them already exists.
- The original creators of the map get more subscribers and traffic because people are using the official/curated copy of the assets.
- Players will run into less mismatch errors when joining servers because they’ll have the same mod installed as the server.
It might be worth asking the current curated map developers about how they feel about this. Perhaps having more people visit their mod page is more beneficial to them, or simply makes them feel better because it is more obvious who made the assets.
