My idea while holding [T] for attachment

okay, here is my idea for that. so basically when we pressing the button, we are not only be able to attach our stuff to the gun but we can change more of that. this is what it looks like (i have no skills with Photoshop so i only use paint).

as you can see, we do not need to press [V] to change the weapon mode & safety, but we just need to click that button to change that. so we can save [V] to other controlling.

the flashlight and the nightvision are the same as above, just click that to turn on/off. so [B] and [N] will not be used anymore.

my other ideas that i thought it’s cool are we can choose what we want with our gun, as a melee or even to throw it to deliver the gun for our friends. and if we using bandana and hoodie, we can turn the mask and the hood on and off.

Simplifying controls just for the sake of simplifying them does not make life easier.

It could be nice to be able to do some of these through the attachment menu, but they still need to be accessible outside of it. (reloading isn’t done only through the attachment menu after all.)

Seems a bit complicated. Though we don’t know if ‘T’ key will still be the one for checking the attachments, as it may change.

It will be T if you set your keybindings that way, so that’s a pretty irrelevant point.

Obviously I’m referring to the default key.

You have some kind of turn on with taking the opposite against me, don’t you?

Meleing and throwing guns seems pretty much completely useless if you have to go into the attachment menu to do it.
I’m not sure there needs to be separate options for whether you pull your mask up, have your hood up, have your glasses over your eyes, your tie loose, your shirt buttoned, your shoes tied, your pants zipped, and your headlamp/night vision on. Maybe one key to decide whether you’re bundled up for insulation or not and one for if you’re headwear is turned on or not.

What’s this about? I just felt like that criticism was unfair.

I agree here so far.

I have a post pending which treats these. I might know a way on which these kind of settings could be of use.

I don’t like it. Not realistic and it is tedious.

Looks good, I think it would be funtional. All tho you need to be able to assign a keybind to it for easy use. But furtheremore. The idea of throwing guns and being able to toggle visibility of you bandana and such would be a good idea.

Cool idea, but I think that fire mode, the safety and NVG’s should have a hotkey rather than going in this menu.
(Why would you want to stare at your gun to turn on your NVG’s?)

I think this system really shines with interacting with your attachments and your clothing/armor.

For fire mode and safety of makes sense. There’s a switch on the gun for this stuff, so why can you look at it to do so?

Maybe you would also have to do this to turn on gun attachments, like lasers or tax lights and such.

Having to go through a menu and have to move your mouse around to select takes a lot more times to use and much more hindering while needing to make changes on the fly.

I’m more of thinking you have to pull up the thing, then you can use the hotkey.

Then you’d have to press two buttons instead of one.

Meh… I guess.

I know this is just a concept, but I see multiple problems with it.

A) If you’ve seen the existing quick attachment screen, there wouldn’t even be enough space on the screen to fit all this (without cramming stuff in uncomfortably). Yours is also very visually cluttered while the existing one does a good job of being organized and spaced out.

B) The detailed preview pane would easily allow you to see all of the more in-depth attachment actions. You can even open preview panes of said attachments from the weapon pane.

C) Why is there an on/off switch for the hood and mask? (I guess this would make sense for something like a gasmask, but see the next sentence.) Moreover, why does it belong in the quick attachment screen of all places? It’d be more fitting somewhere in the inventory screen, I’d think…

D) I doubt melee with a ranged weapon would be a toggle function as opposed to a separate keybind to perform the action altogether.

E) All of the toggle switches in your screen would require pretty much the same amount of keystrokes/clicks to reach through the existing system in the inventory and preview panes. IMO putting them in the attachment screen might get tedious for a lot of people.

Why ? How would you make it realistic ?

I do not care about it being realistic. I like the way nelson did it.
