My thoughts on 4.x and pay to play

I think that 4.x and beyond SHOULD be pay to play overall but here are some pros and cons that specifically relate to me

PRO
Toxic community would be less
Nelson is lord and savior god almighty forever king give him money but money would hopefully help nelson develop
Unturned is a great game i would pay for it
Hackers aren’t really a problem, but it would reduce them anyways.

CON
Splitting the player base between 4.x and 3.x and below could seriously hurt Unturned.
My friends might not have the money to get it

But overall the things that should be done either way is
IF it does become P2P then make gold transfer over or if you have gold you get it for free or whatever you cant just ripoff everyone with gold
Gamebreaking mechanics are needed to be fixed, i dont pay for broken games cough third person cough prefiring around walls using it.

nah but actually i couldn’t care less as long as 3rd person is nerfed and gold isn’t a big waste.

The numbers highly depends on what it would offer, so really no cons if it was great

Otherwise, eh, I think we can cope it

Alright, have you seen CS:GO? It’s $15AUD if you buy from the right places, and it’s still filled with hackers, toxic children and worst of all, toxic Russians. You’re essentially making a game which pretty much got it’s popularity from being free, paid for. While most of us can easily buy the game, there’s still a mature audience that might not consider the game as it costs actual money. The great thing about Unturned is that, outside of obnoxious KitPvP servers, is essentially F2P, and not Pay To Win.

Oh and also, Gold isn’t useless. It’s a donation to Nelson, and without it, he might not of been able to be as committed to Unturned.

@NeedlessMemeing The switch to p2p has been suggested by nelson, and i am just outlining the pros and cons i think
but anyways, Unturned doesn’t have a problem with cheaters, the combination of battleye and vac pretty much makes cheating so difficult to do it is really not worth it. I am just saying about how it would help slightly i guess
Also I definitly agree with the popularity out of F2P, as i mentioned how making the game P2P would be dangerous to the popularity of unturned, and making it P2P would certainly have an impact. Now the thing is, i think it would actually filter out most of the toxic russians, as most 10 YO kids searching up roblox on steam would probably just stick with 3.0 because they dont feel like taking their parents credit card yet again. and also at least 60% of people IN MY EXPERIENCE have had gold, meaning they were willing to pay $5 just to support nelson basically, so it wouldn’t be much of a stretch to think that 80% of people would just keep playing because they either already had gold and it transferred and gave you the game for free, or the remaining would buy it because they got basicallly a mega update with it rather than just some gold skins and cool colours. But i mean the big thing is that gold needs to transfer because then if it doesn’t u lose that ~60% of the population who bought gold but wern’t willign to pay more than that.

What?
(oof 10 character limit)

4.X and the rest of Unturned, are separate games, so there’s no problem with marketing them to different demographics.
CS:GO is a popular fps game mechanics 4.X is a survival game that isn’t even released yet. They do not have the same target audience, and will likely have very different fanbases.

You’re talking about one of the most, if not THE most popular FPS game currently and has been for the past 6 years.
Counter Strike is a world-known game, it’s rare to find someone who doesn’t know it. And because of it’s intense popularity, it is bound to have hackers. Not to mention VAC being a trash anti-cheat. Since it is so popular and old yet still thriving as one of the most played games daily, it can easily be bought with cheaper prices on 3rd party sites such as G2A. Again, because of its popularity, kids are tempted to buy it despite the price.
As for Unturned, it’s kinda different. You have complex mechanics, realism, it’s not that popular, and having it cost money will surely allow less kids and more mature audiences to play the game.
