Preview – 3.25.7.0 Changelog

Preview branch version 3.25.7.110 is now available. This information may change between now and the update’s official release.

Warning

Please note: New versions on the preview branch are designed to load older saves (backwards compatibility). However, the public branch typically cannot load saves made with newer versions (forwards compatibility). Therefore, if you plan to switch back to the public branch before the update is officially released, we recommend that you avoid loading important saves on the preview branch. Additionally, make sure to back up any maps before saving them in the level editor.

Estimated Release

We’re aiming to release this update next week (July 1st-3rd), provided the testing goes smoothly.

Update #1 (v3.25.7.111)

Thank you to everyone who shared feedback on the preview version so far! In particular, this update to the preview branch focuses on addressing feedback on the scope changes and the housing planner.

  • With dual-render scopes off: the zoom level, blur, and scope texture smoothly fade in/out in sync with the aiming animation state.
  • Added “First-Person Arms Bobbing” accessibility option. This scales the intensity of viewmodel sway while walking and looking around.
  • Added blueprints to craft structures directly from stacked logs, and similar for most metal structures (including from scrap) to help streamline automatic crafting.
  • Smoothed out the landing-after-jumping effect on the viewmodel less jarring.
  • Fixed a few bugs with the new mod hooks.
  • Noted housing planner’s ability to bypass workstation requirements when crafting in its description.

Changelog

Gameplay

  • Housing planner can now automatically craft structure items.
  • Destroying or salvaging placed item stacks recovers the entire stack.
  • Hotbar shows equipped item’s durability / quality.

Graphics

  • Replaced 2D scope overlay (when dual-render scope quality is OFF) with post-process effect copying main view into scope material. This eliminates gameplay differences between 2D and 3D scope.
  • Added option to prevent loading small clutter details. Note: requires per-map support by level creators.
  • Water planar reflections use main camera’s LOD settings. This reduces discrepancies between reflections and what’s visible, but may decrease performance when planar reflections are enabled.
  • Added “-Cinematic” command-line flag to turn off all level-of-detail features (intense performance cost). Useful primarily for level promotional screenshots.

Multiplayer Quality of Life

  • Added buttons to copy server code in pause menu and server info menu.
  • While playing multiplayer, an “Invite Friends” button is available from the pause menu.
  • Combined barricade and structure instantiation queues to prevent seeing into loading bases.

Crafting Menu

  • Blueprint details panel shows primary item’s stats and extended description.
  • Crafting tooltip mentions blueprint is ignored in reasons it cannot be crafted.

Anti-Cheat

  • Reduced available information about distant players.
  • Significantly tightened server hit validation threshold between players.

Level Creation

  • Support for blending smoothly between ambiance volumes and per-volume falloff.
  • Road assets for sharing road textures between levels and some new options.
  • Tab in roads editor to switch between per-level road textures and assets list.
  • Support placing decorative trees outside the max level bounds.
  • Removed kill volumes from vanilla bunkers to make them more flexible for level designers.
  • Increased spawns editor contrast behind rarity-colored entries.
  • Added “/DrawAudioReverbZones” (in-game) command to visualize non-volume reverb zone falloff.

New Properties (Modding)

  • Airdrop reward type for NPCs to call in an airdrop.
  • Sentry properties to prevent targeting players, zombies, animals, and vehicles.
  • Tactical attachment properties to override bayonet damage.
  • Sight attachment properties to override aiming alignment space.
  • Placeable item properties to override amount of items recovered on salvage.
  • Item properties for effects and NPC rewards when item reaches zero qality.
  • Gun properties for significantly changing rechambering behavior.
  • Gun property to scale zombie ragdoll force.
  • Consumeable item property to turn off pitch randomization.
  • Vehicle properties for more bumper damage control.
  • Support hybrid rangerfinder-laser tactical attachments.

New Components (Modding)

  • Airdrop Spawner component to call in an airdrop.
  • Barricade Spawner, Item Spawner, and Vehicle Spawner components.
  • Repeat component to replay an event multiple times.
  • Music Audio Source component to mark audio sources as music.
  • Barricade Destroyer component to clear barricades inside a sphere

Plugin Development

  • Added “-ModulesPath” command-line flag to override Modules directory.

Fixes

  • Arrows, Missile, Rail, and Rocket not removed at zero amount. [Thanks Dobs!]
  • Round farm growth percentage down rather than to closest integer. [Thanks PandahutMushy!]
  • Default DeleteAmount behavior changed by search rewrite. [Thanks Dobs!]
  • Potential cause of favorite blueprints button disappearing. [Thanks u/Dandelion07!]
  • Server not registering end of melee swing. [Thanks prank0079!]
  • Non-physical wheel rotation broken by previous update. [Thanks Kopfstroh!]
  • Primary/secondary slot visual not cleared when item breaks. [Thanks JienSultan!]
  • Editing deleted level. [Thanks Jdance!]
  • Protect against menu accidentally becoming empty during special events. (oops)

I beg, can we not have the scope changes again? This is literally going to kill the PvP scene, or people are going to use Scope X from steam with Dot Sights all the time, and those who cannot run Scope X or afford it are just going to be at a disadvantage. 12000 hours here, and im just being genuine, please do not add another scope update (again)

The Housing planner change is insanely good. But it has a really big flaw, it only works when you have metal sheets in your inventory. Now I know metal structures are crafted with metal sheets and not with metal scraps directly, but at that point your inventory is already ruined and the housing planner does not help at all. It is better to craft everything and then place. Because lets say you have 100 scrap, youre gonna craft all of that into sheets and since sheets take an absurd amount of space in inventory, all of them are gonna drop to the ground and youre only gonna be able to place at max 4 structures, and then go back and pick up your sheets again. This should be changed and the housing planner should be able to place things directly from metal scrap. Or else this change does nothing sadly.

Found a small UI bug with the Ambience Settings

The Weather Mask text collides with the new Fog Fade-Out UI

Possible bug i found, when making walls directly from stack of logs with housing planner, instead of taking 3 logs out of the stacks, it instantly makes all 12 of them into walls (4 walls). Maybe it is intended, I dont know.
