Suggestion: Group System Rework for Better Management

Suggestion: Group System Rework for Better Management

The current group system in Unturned is outdated and lacks key features that are essential for smooth group and clan management. I’d like to propose a few simple, targeted improvements that would significantly enhance the experience:

1. Offline Group Member Management

Issue:
Right now, players who log out while in a group cannot be kicked, demoted, or managed in any way. This makes it difficult to handle inactive or disruptive members.

Proposed Fix:

  • The group menu should display all members — not just online ones.
  • Add functionality to kick or promote/demote offline members.

2. Steam Group Sync Issues

Issue:
Players removed from the Steam group will still remain in the in-game group if they’re online, with no way to force-remove them.

Proposed Fix:

  • Automatically remove players from the in-game group if they’re no longer in the linked Steam group.
  • Alternatively, allow admins to kick Steam-linked members directly from the in-game group interface.

3. Group Ownership of Buildables

Issue:
Managing buildables across clans is tedious. If a player builds something outside of a group, there’s no clean way to transfer ownership.

Proposed Fix:

  • Add the ability to transfer buildables to group ownership (either automatically or via a tool/command).
  • This would reduce clutter and let clans maintain and manage shared infrastructure more easily.

4. Group Size Limit Indicator

Issue:
A small but important quality-of-life tweak. Right now, if the group is full, you just can’t invite — with no clear feedback.

Proposed Fix:

  • Add a visible indicator when the group has reached its member cap.

5. Support for Joining Multiple Steam Groups In-Game

Issue:
Many large clans run multiple Steam groups for different sub-groups or alliances. Switching between them is slow and clunky because you have to leave the game and change your primary group every time.

Proposed Fix:

  • Allow players to access multiple linked Steam groups from within the game, without needing to rejoin the server to change their primary group.

These changes would massively improve the user experience for group/clan-based gameplay while also addressing long-standing pain points in group management for clan owners and group managers.
