The Unturned 4.0. should be a huge map. Maybe the size of insane as it should be possible with the new unreal engine. The map should have item progression such as Russia. Possible candidate could be a map of north america. The spawnpoints could be PEI or somewhere with low tier locations. such as a small town in Canada or the US. But now let’s get to the locations.
PEI A remake of the 2.0 PEI. The military base should mainly spawn pistols and rarely ARs. There could be a little bit of everything-Ranger loot,police loot and civilian loot. Once the player gears up he/she could go beyond Confederation bridge to explore the map.
New Brunswick Probably your first province you’ll visit. Medium sized towns and Fredericton as medium sized city with minor military presence.
Nova Scotia Similar to New Brunswick in a way. Low amount of towns. Halifax should it’s main attraction with medium military presence and port where building materials would spawn.
Quebec. It’s a large province. 2nd most populous. It could have a military base. Quebec City with it’s parliament building and landmarks such as Château Frontenac. The center should have dense streets and historic buildings. Between Quebec City and Montreal should be farms and small towns. Montreal should be an urban area. It could have a subway and lot skyscrapers. Basically probably the first dense urban area the player will encounter. High Military presence but still low tier loot Best spawn could be a Maplestrike at most but really low chance.
Ontario Toronto. The CN tower,Casa Loma castle and Centre Island as explorable landmarks. Close quarter streets with military checkpoint set up to slow down the movement of the citizens. Maybe Rogers Centre baseball stadium as a abandoned evac site with military loot. If the main generator could be powered up the dome could be closed which would prevent sniping from the CN tower. The loot in the city could be good but high tier weapons such as the timberwolf should be close to impossible to spawn. Now Ottawa it could have high military presence as it was the capital which the military tried to defend but difficult to access or being a deadzone caused by a leak from S7 transport in the area to make the hight tier items there hard to get. And rest of the province should be small towns and campsites in the north.
Manitoba and Saskatchewan should act as a buffer zone between the east and west of the canada. Mainly farmaland and small towns. Low or close to none military presence. Also a good area to make a base midgame.
British Columbia High military presence. Vancouver and also a passage to the United States. Also a mountainous area in the east.
Yukon A province with low amount of civilian presence,almost zero military presence and could have a S7 research facility which could as a large dungeon with high tier loot but far from everything so the player would have to stock up on food,water and get warm clothing to survive the trip there and back with the loot.
Northeast territories and Nunavut Unforgiving harsh barren snowy areas with low population density. A good place to build a base which would be hard to raid. Maybe some Eskimo or Inuit settlements.
N&L Low population density but not snowy as the two provinces listed before.
Now the USA. Not going to cover all the 50 states but the regions such as New England or Midwest.
New England Possibly the first area of the US the player comming from eastern canada visits. Architecture that of New England. The largest city should be Boston. Medium Military presence. States include Connecticut,Rhode Island,Vermont,New Hampshire,Massachusetts and Maine
The Northeast Large military presence. Huge population density. Big cities such as Philadelphia and New York New York City could have suburban areas. Then Manhattan,Brooklyn. It could have a large presence of military but the player should think twice before shooting a gun. It’s the largest city in the US afterall and it would be easy to get overwhelmed by hordes. Landmarks include Freedom Tower,Times Square,Central Park,Statue of Liberty,Empire State Building and Brooklyn Bridge.
Philadelphia will be smaller than NYC but equally dangerous with slightly smaller military prensence. Landmarks such as independence hall could be also nice locations to visit.
Then there should be small/medium sized towns with police presence and possibly gun stores.
States include New Jersey,Pennsylvania and New York
The South Civil war memorials/museums. Washington D.C. with large military presence. Landmarks include The White House,Washington Monument,Capitol Building and Lincoln Memorial. There wouldn’t be any tall buildings so it wouldn’t be so good for sniping at all. The Washington Monument should be either bariccaded or just closed off to prevent camping. This could also be a location to learn a lot of lore about the US and how it fell.
Arlington,VA Similar to DC but has landmarks such as Arlington cemetery and Pentagon. Should be a medium sized city.
Atlanta Another large city with high military presence. CDC as a dungeon with high medical and military loot but with a security system in place so the player would need to get in through a quest. Lanmarks could be the Georgia State House and such.
New Orleans The french Quarter and some flooded parts of the city. Swamps could be close to the city. Medium military presence.
Miami A large city with lots of hotels and tourist attractions. Beaches. Medium to High military presence.
Outside the major cities the should be only small towns and civilian locations. Low military and police presence. Just checkpoints here and there. And maybe a medium sized military base in the wilderness. Possible Scorpion-7 facility in the swamps of Lousiana. Some states should have low military presence and be more survival oriented for example West Virginia should have small towns and medium sized cities with tiny military presence in the capital Charleston.
States include:Virginia,West Virginia,DC,Maryland,Delaware,North Carolina,SouthCarolina,Georgia,Florida,Alabama,Tennessee,Kentucky,Mississippi,Louisiana and Arkansas
Texas. Forests in the northeast. Ranches. Large cities such as Austin,Houston and Dallas. Military presence varies between locations. And desert in the south with abandoned oil derricks and oil refineries. If the oil derricks could be powered on it could be a good place to get fuel and to not make it overpowered the desert should have a heat mechanic which would reiquire the player to wear clothing suited for hot conditions and drink regurarly. The oil refineries and oil derricks should be pretty far from the cities so camping for long periods of time would become unpossible.
The Midwest High to medium military presence. Chicago A dangerous city with a large number of infected and also large military prensence. High Risk and High Reward. Once you shoot a gun without a suppressor expect a huge horde. Landmarks include the Willis Tower and the Chicago water tower.
Detroit A city with abandoned areas with partially collapsed houses which could be recycled for materials for your base. Poor areas with lots trash lying around and low tier weapons such as the MAC-10 or MAG-7 which are a gangster favorite and would suit the area. The downtown should have medium military presence. Also a storyline of how the city fell. Such as a old newspaper with an article that the low income area are rioting and the police lost the control which resulted in them being infected.
St. Louis,Missouri High Military Presence, Blocaded Bridges on the Missouri River. Landmarks include the Gateway Arch
Minneapolis,Minnesota A medium to large city with medium military presence.
Rest of the states such as Iowa should be have low and close to none military presence.
States Include:Ohio,Indiana,Illinois,Wisconsin,Michigan,Iowa,Minnesota and Missouri
The West. (States between the east and west coast) These states should mainly have wilderness and medium cities at most. Just an area for the live off the land style players. Low military presence. Such states could be Idaho or Montana. Only states with medium military presence should be New Mexico and Arizona.
States include: Idaho,Montana,South Dakota,North Dakota,Wyoming,Nevada,Utah,Colorado,Arizona,New Mexico,Nebraksa,Kansas and Oklahoma
The West (Coastal States)
These states should be on par with their east coast counterparts. High military presence.
LA 2nd largest city in the US Lots of military presence. Dangerous and infested. Should have diffrent districts such as Hollywood,Beverly Hill or Donwtown. In the rich areas there are fancy manors and fancy vehicles left abandoned as their owner vere forcibly evacuated by the authorities. Hollywood could have film sets and theatres. The Downtown should have military checkpoints. Buildings such as the US Bank tower could be enterable and explorable. The city also could have extensive subway system.
San Francisco Golden Gate bridge,chinatown and large military presence added to that. Possibly Silicon Valley close to the city could have a server database building owned by S-7 or Aegis if they comeback in 4.0 Also a place where to learn some lore.
Seattle,WA Seattle returns and is way bigger this time Medium military presence. Landmarks such as the Farmer’s market,Space Needle or the monorail.
Outside these three cities could be farms and medium cities such as Tacoma or Everett.
States include:California.Oregon and Washington
Alaska Combination of Yukon and Washington Large military presence but harsh blizzards and scarcity of food will make survival harder in this state. Anchorage and Fairbanks as the only cities. Also Mt McKinley could be a landmark in this state.
Hawaii You either need an aircraft or a water vehicle to get here as the distance from the Mainland is far. It should be all the islands. A tropical paradise far from everything with some minor military presence. Honolulu should be a medium sized city and the largest in Hawaii.
And lastly there should be minor locations such as a overrun carnival in Louisiana or abandoned insane asylum in West Virginia. So the map wouldn’t feel so empty. Or just a creepy abandoned town in Maine with no zombies. This is reference to a certain horror game set in Maine. Just random orginal location in the wilderness.
In order for this map to be balanced everything should be scarce even civilian items such as food. More likely how it was in 2.0. So even if you find a Grizzly,the ammo for it will still be scarce.
Lot of thougt has been put into this. I don’t expect anything to be added to 4.0. These are just ideas I came up with. Anyway thanks for reading this thread. If you want to suggest something in the comments feel free to do so.
