Unturned ios/android edition

Since this is made through the same engine that brought infinity blade and Fortnite (don’t hate for that) and the fact that UE4 is PERFECT at making mobile games maybe you could give it a go Nelson? Please?

It will be the last thing he’ll do.

Sometimes it’s best to keep it to its original platform

I wonder how Unturned would run as a mobile game…
Or how well it would do.
How would you optimize the controls?

I’m not really sure how I would optimise the controls but one thing is for sure IF I WHERE NELSON I WOULDNT MAKE THE CONTROLS AS BAD AS VAST SURVIVALS CONTROLS
(Though that game is still fun!)

It was meant to be a rhetorical question.

Hahahaha no

Unturned is literally the last game you’d want for mobile. UE4 runs rather poorly on mobile like most games, and the controls are also going to be utter trash. There’s also no way the mobile version will even come remotely close to the quality of the PC version.

Land-scape mode for obvious reasons. You’ll have a medium sized track pad for movement, pressing it twice will let you jump. The rest of the screen is for rotation. Medium sized button for firing that is surrounded by 3 smaller circles, reload, firemode, and ADS. The inventory will be accessed by a small rectangle at the bottom of the screen. Just above it, are 3 significantly small buttons: stand, crouch, prone. At the top of the screen, you’ll have: map, skills, and players tabs. No leaning.

Only if they let mobile users connect to pc multiplayer servers, thus increasing the amount of laggy players.

Look at mortal kombat, injustice, and pubg mobile. They are very good examples of optimization for mobile in ue4. And pubg’s controls are actually very good too. I will make soon some concept for a mobile hud and interface, maybe in video.

PUBG mobile

optimized

Have you by any chance, actually played PUBG mobile? I have a new generation phone with a pretty powerful octa-core processor and I barely break 30 fps on lowest graphics. On literally every other mobile game fps is never an issue.

That also doesn’t excuse the fact that PUBG mobile’s controls, while good for a mobile game, are actually still pretty bad. Especially in comparison to PC gaming.

My moto g play (same shit as the moto g 2 in games) runs pubg on low ate 30 fps, and it is a snapdragon 410, that is basically a 2013 processor with some tweaks. If there is a problem here is you phone, not ue4. My brother’s moto z play runs at medium at 30~40 avg fps. What is your phone?
And precision on a mobile phone is a problem, but gestures actually make the game really better. Fast aiming is a problem in a mobile phone, but moving items is fater than pc (without using commands). Nothing that a aim assit wouldn’t balance. Pc will always be better in controls, but smartphone are not bad at all.

I have a Moto G5 Plus, which is superior in specs to both of your devices.

Also, how is looting faster in mobile? In PC, you literally just hold Tab and right click the items. That combined with the control you get in PC completely nulls your point, as well as the fact that you don’t need to scroll to loot large loot piles.

Either way Unturned would be an absolutely horrible mobile game, especially since 4.0 is going for immersion. I have yet to see an immersive mobile game, and I haven’t even started on the incredible strain all of Unturned’s mechanics pose on a mobile device.

The engine doesn’t make or break optimization, which is probably the biggest misconception I have ever seen regarding game development. The optimization comes from the coding of the game, and for mobile devices you simply hit a brick wall with processing power.

Ayy we got the same phone bro!!!

Weird, my friend has one and he plays smoothly at medium. And moto z play and g5 plus has the same cpu and gpu.
You loot faster cause you dont have to move you mouse, you just click things. Yes, you have to scoll in pubg mobile whan you find much loot (whatnis really hard to happen), but the storage system is completly different in both games, pubg is more of unturned 2.0, and you also had to scroll there. It is all a question of creativity and finding the right solution with the community.

For a serious answer, Unturned mobile is most likely out of the question. While some games like PUBG are possible on phones, its is because of the relatively small amount of content they have as well as a few other things. Unturned will have far more items, enemies, and locations than pubg and other phone games have. Simply put, its unlikely to be feasible, but someone else could develop a much simpler Unturned like game for phones I’m sure.

That’s not how mobile ports work… You have to adapt the game core, like how it will render, the graphics api, effects, some optimization and finally the UI, Unturned having much content isn’t something that would make the port much harder too.

maybe is possible with unturned 3.0, but i dont think it would be possible with 4.0

It isn’t about your opinions. It is possible in 4.x, and it is way easier than it would be in 3.x, mainly because of it’s optimisation, and some engine issues.
