Been a lurker but it was fun partaking in this and seeing what everyone came up with. Def things I need to learn and work on. May I have badge
Will Berry be given a badge? It was a submission but for whatever reason was removed from the submissions list. If it was disqualified, it should still get a badge given the precedent of other dq’d maps getting badges (Christmas in July was given both badges and a place in the submissions list even though it was disqualified)
House 17410 sucks so hard. all it does is kill you upon spawning.
I think people just generally like skypoint, that’s why I voted for it. Anticoast has the benefit of a large YouTuber having made it, so the results are not exactly unexpected for a popularity contest.
Granted! (edit: and granted to a few other people)
(Also: I’ve corrected the mistake I had made in a previous post about badge eligibility. It was true for previous years, but this MapJam doesn’t include disqualified entries in its Steam Collection.
For any community event we provide skins for: questions regarding event rules, eligibility, etc. should almost always be directed towards the original event hosts. Although we provide various forms of support to event hosts we work with, these events are still created and hosted by community members.)
thank you
Maybe the map was taken down (I can’t find it on the workshop anymore) but I recall a map that was disqualified for being uploaded after the deadline was still included in the workshop collection. (I think it was called Atlanta… something)
what a shitshow
pov least hostile unturned argument
Hi Molt, I recently made account here and I see that there are some badges, can I still get badge for mapjam 2022?
Do I also get a gift for being today?
Badge granted.
(Also granted the Mapjam Summer 2023 badge to more accounts. If you didn’t receive one, but you were a participant or event staff – please leave a post on this topic or send me a DM.)
Imo, no, it’s just as easy to spam votes with Steam as it is to spam votes with the SDG forums, the only limiting factor is that in the SDG forums, less people in general get involved because less people use or know about the forums.
Sitting here with popcorn is interesting though, I have not had a chance to see any of the previous mapjams take place, but seeing how much drama and negativity was spurred on from this is interesting to me. The popularity contest which was then undertaken, with a Youtuber managing to sweep away a lot of the votes, alongside the unnecessary possible disqualifications (RIP Berry)just seem to make things feel a bit worse.
Definitely seems like a failure from the standpoint of making a fun event.
Overall, this official SDG mapjam can really be summarized by one word; Disaster
That plus new users (genuine or not) are much easier to spot and thus harder to fake
