voice chat disabled by default

When a new player plays unturned, the voice chat option is turned off, I think there is even an option to activate it before entering the servers. But this is causing a problem, I’m from Brazil and most players don’t even understand English, so many new players will have voice chat disabled without knowing it. I used google translate

Fair point, it’s unfortunate that without a translation mod installed it’s easy to end up with voice chat disabled! Considering how toxic some environments can be, however, I do think it’s important that it’s an intentional choice to opt-in. The potential for toxicity in random servers is quite concerning to say the least, and I wonder if there’s opportunity for a more positive default experience with the server curation feature, in which case we could change the voice default.

Toxic environment not only belongs to this game. There is toxic people everywhere and there will be
Solution should be easier muting maybe likea button to control voice chat

I agree it is a bad decision. During the last couple of years Unturned unfortunately became less accessible. The server browser is now too cluttered and the buttons in it are too small compared to the old ones (not to mention the filter submenus). When people asked for a change they wanted it to be easier to use. Favorite/Bookmark system one along another (why? it is so inconsistent). Now the chat doesn’t work from default if you accidentally skipped it or have no clue how to read english (which is a trouble for those who weren’t born in an english-speaking country). Oh, and why make a built-in chat filter? I don’t see a point. Steam already censors those particular words by default and if someone disabled that feature then they don’t mind seeing slurs in their chat box or whatever. Wasn’t this change for the sake of nothing?

not even new i have way over 5000hours in the game and after some update all VOIP was turned off for me in settings i just thought people arround me didnt talk untill i played with some1 else and they told me that there are people talking nearby

it would be cool for the player count menu to be easier yo navigate there are people screaming and stuff but how am i supposed to know who it is without scrolling for 10seconds to find the 1 person mic spamming. Also maybe the player kick option should actually work its turned off on every single server i`ve played on and im playing this game since early 2015.

Theres no good way to remove toxicity from the game nor to make everyone friendly and love each other this is a PvP survival game a its core people will be mad will be toxic and will be hateful towards each other start thinking about actual game updates and not stuff that not only makes people question future of the game. Hey im toxic my self towards people that anoy me

same thing happened with my 2400+ hour friend recently, lmao

One potential compromise could be to have some form of (toggleable) visual UI element showing whether voice chat is enabled or not while playing. That way, people who might’ve easily just clicked through the initial popup might have an easier time figuring out that their voice chat is disabled.

I think people naturally click through the menu without actually reading its contents (Similar to how people won’t read ToS documents, etc.). A visual icon in-game would likely be a bit harder to miss.

This is a good idea. (And is consistent with other games.) No timeline for it – but we’ve made an issue for it internally.
