Why do you play video games?

As the title says, I was wondering why you play video games. I mean of course we all play for entertainment, but reasons other than that.

Here are the reasons I play:

  • Community and multiplayer. I love the feeling of setting up your campfire on the first night with your friends, eating beans. And I love the little towns and communities that pop up on some games, with like-minded people working together.

  • Accomplishing things not possible in real life. No-one can afford to have their true dream house, but in video games it’s not an issue. You can do anything.

Anyway yeah, just comment why you ply video games, I’m interested.

I wouldn’t say that I’m anywhere near being real into video games but I still spend a fair bit of time playing them. My main reason is that I turned to them for a sense of community and cooperation since I’m not very close to anyone in person.

I have too much free time, if not video games it would probably be television. the boys and homework can only keep me busy for so long

Mostly to pass the time, but the other reason is for my own enjoyment.

As for multiplayer, there’s always someone/something to make anyone’s day. I play TF2 and it is full of bizarre (wtf) moments. It never gets old

  1. It’s an excellent time killer and, well, fun
  2. In stealth multiplayer games, I just really love that realization that this person has no idea that you’re there. Trust me, I’m not a stalker
  3. Putting a team together to get something done you couldn’t do alone is just such a satisfying feeling

Very relatable sadly…

Isn’t this just a biography of almost all forum-goers (forumers?)

Yes, that is very satisfying. I love community survivor camps and raids.

Because I’d rather isolate myself in a fictional world of joy and wonders than stick to constructive and productive work and face reality, despite knowing the potentially devastating results that neglecting such work could have in the long run.
I choose to wallow in my own ignorance of reality, if I don’t see it, it can’t hurt me, right? Because dwelling on life’s problems will only make the arrival of them all the more worse. A world devoid of real or dire consequences is a welcome world for me.

May be a bit of a common thing here or just about anywhere else on the Internet. I’ve always been more quiet and out of the way of other people. I observe my surroundings and pay attention to the things that nobody else cares for. I don’t really know what to say to other people so I stay silent until I can’t.

I play because it’s easier to have fun than to do actual work.

sometimes I don’t play video games, I sit idley staring at the TV with no thoughts in my brain. My vision slowly becomes static as I get lost in the empty void that is my brain. My mind is an enigma. A rapture of tendrils pulling me closer towards obscurity. I think they’re fun.

mostly for fun, it’s also one of my hobbies (along with drawing and crying over a code that doesn’t fucking work fuck you unreal engine I just wanted to be rich) and it’s a relief from non-stop stress.

Mostly play for those strange moments that happen with friends or sometimes randoms that are great stories to tell with other friends, to pass the time or to simply meet other people through games.

To escape the grasp of reality as I slumber and wait for my time to PASS INTO THE LIGHT.

waste my time. I’ve actually ran out of things to play and now I sit here, listening to music, doing nothing but staring at my screen.

Hmm…

I play to just fit in with a community, I’m not smart and can’t really fit in with other so gaming is the only community I fit In since it’s not only easy but also I’m able to talk with people without them knowing who I am and with me being able to make friends so that if I don’t got any irl I just hop on and get the friend playing
