Now I know he’s not rich or anything but is he? If not will someone do it for him? I mean if someone was to do it, they would need to do it on youtube since on anywhere else it would probably cost a fortune. Now this is not saying that he has too and anyone has too but im curious if he is thinking of expanding his game further since at this point its turning into a AAA Game.

Advertising as you stated, commands high prices if you really want to get the name out.
And anyways, Unturned 2.x and 3.x become popular as it was a free, multiplayer survival game that you could play with friends. Not to mention that when Youtubers started playing it, especially some of the bigger ones, word would spread fast.
I see games the same as audio systems, if it’s got a ton of ads, it’s probably not that good, as the money that could be used for development is used for ads. For an audio comparison, ompare the amount of ads for beats to the amount of ads for Sennheiser, both in the same price range sort of, and with Sennheiser making far far better products.
It’s also just unnecessary because most people opinions are swayed by youtubers now a days.

This. The best companies/products use word of mouth to spread the news of a new release because they know they have loyal customers. The hot dog shack down the street has been there for 30+ years and never once put out an ad yet everyone around knows that if you want a damn good hot dog you go there, simply because they checked it out for themselves after a friend recommended to do so. I can see Nelson doing the same, or at least putting up an ad on the steam store like most major new releases get.

I think the word of the people is a much better advertisement than automated displayed throughout random websites.
The least he could do is make a trailer and post it on YouTube, but it’s best that it would be made a few days/weeks before final release in order to not mislead people with changes or die down the excitement after a long wait if it was released earlier
