Zombie Corpse (and other players) as an Obstacle Suggestion

Hey everyone, this suggestion I have been trying to think whether or not it would be a good idea. So instead of just contemplating, I’ll post it here.

So I got this idea from another game

If you watch up to and if you want past the scene with the bridge (or if you want to watch from the beginning, up to you. The gameplay looks terrifying and amazing). You’ll see how the corpse creates this awesome obstacle. So this is the suggestion, I feel like it could be pretty awesome. This suggestion and video pretty much speaks for itself and doesn’t have much to explain. Feel free to ask any questions about this suggestion, I’ll see if I can add any input or further suggestion.

The example game you use doesn’t match up with your suggestion afaik. The game’s corpse ragdolls interact only other corpse ragdolls. Zombies/humans/animals are not obstructed by them at all.

I’m assuming that’s not what you meant to ask for, and that you actually want them to be be an obstacle for living things.

I think that’d depend on the amount of zombies, to start. If it was a horde mentality, then it’d make sense. However, a feature like that can be quite intensive and very resource heavy. It requires all corpses be server-side rather than client-side, and it means that players cannot make the corpses despawn sooner (in fact, they’d probably take longer to despawn than they already normally do at Ultra settings).

Now, without a ton of zombies and an “overwhelming horde” mentality, then the feature is pointless and just an occasional annoyance when your camera suddenly goes up a bit then back down. The corpses just really wouldn’t affect gameplay all that much, as there would never be enough corpses to actually be an obstruction. Plus, you’d have to be able to kill a ton of zombies first. That requires a good amount of firepower. In the many Days Gone trailers, the player character has hundreds of bullets and zombies die very quickly. This seems different compared to how Unturned has generally done it thus far.

You’re completely right there, I can’t believe I didn’t think of something so obvious. The game I have shown an example of is most definitely going to be a singleplayer game, whilst 4.x will have a lot more players so I can totally see this creating quite a lot of issues.

Yet again, I agree. There’s not much else to add on really. Just a late night thought on my end that wasn’t really thought through at all. My apologies for the waste of time.

I mean, at the very least I didn’t disagree to corpses interacting with other corpse ragdolls. :man_shrugging: I also never watched the 2016 gameplay demo of the game either, just the 2017 one, so I got to binge-watch some gameplay for a bit.
