About zombies

I personally think that “super zombies” is quite a lazy practice. Rather than giving zombies ridiculous powers, why not make them more difficult to avoid? Say, when a zombie is in “idle” mode, it moves with a large, random pattern, walking from street to street. When they detect you, they attack, and attract more of their kind. So, one wrong move and you are attacked by every zombie on the street. Otherwise, its fairly easy to avoid zombies, superpower or not.

This can be called a good AI. I support your opinion, thats practice can give sense of stealth skill.

And personally, I think that the “super zombie” mechanic is in place to avoid the need for an AI. So maybe that will have to go.

Well, roaming zombies were a thing in 1.0, so this is totally feasible if Nelson is up to the task.

What if both exist?

Personally I don’t believe they exist to make up for the lack of better AI. Last time roaming exist, the game lags like hell overtime even with the best PCs. Well if you just start up the game the zombies were be a little tough to deal with.

Hopefully AI is much better in the new game. I mean of course they’ll be improved on.

Do be honest, i like the mutated zombies. While the burners makes no sense, (What, did the survivor drink a gas can right before he got eaten, at which point the zombie stumbled into a campfire, or what?) the rest do, or at least are unique and interesting enough to like. Spitters are just creating huge amounts of weird extra-potent stomach acid. Weren’t hulks said in the old Canada map to be a military super-soldier experiment?

I’d like some more special ones, but make them a tad more rare. A fast zombie, kinda like HL i guess, that starved itself so all it’s heavy muscle decayed away, or a burster, possibly replacing the burner, that detonates itself, so if you kill it before it itself decides to explode, it doesn’t explode. A screaming one with a huge, creepy elongated jaw that screams and makes all the other zombies walk over.

I feel like they’d add more variety to zombie fights, and make town raids more interesting. Also, i love CDDA. Don’t judge me.
