In that case I think he missed the part that the Mk2 and the Quadbarrel are part of 3.0 lore and will be unlikely for them to become a thing in UII.
as far as balancing, gun damage should be based on the ammunition used, with the condition and length of the barrel affecting accuracy and range. Each caliber has a max range, but few guns have a barrel long enough to allow all the powder and gasses to burn before the bullet leaves the muzzle.
