I have many complaints about 3.0, and 4.0 should be 10x better than 3.0, but it’s just an opinion.
Anyway, let’s discuss about gun system.
I’ll talk about many things, please read!
First topic, “Buff and balance Pistols.”
In 3.0, you already knows, Pistols are shitty weapons compared to the other guns.
To prevent this in 4.0, I’ll suggest these things:
First: Make pistols’ draw and aiming time faster, and rifle makes it slower.
This thing will improve the pistols’ mechanism, make pistol more useful in CQB situation.
Second, Increase a pistol’s damage.
This will make pistol better against bandit. Like: Heavily-Armed man can be killed by a pistol-carrier… So if you have aiming skill, you can wipe out every bandit with a single pistol.
And people will know that “Full-gear is not always strong, sometimes weak, or maybe is bad.”
Why we should add it? Well, Fully-Armed, heavily geared bandit can “dominate the entire server” or be a tanker and kill all enemy in sight. For now… Pistols are trash as hell against bandit.
Second topic: Mechanism
First: Make every single semi-automatic(including pistols)or Burst-fired guns fire without delay.
3.0’s Semi or Burst-guns have few seconds*(0.5sec) of delay and it causes limited firepower.
So in 4.0, Every semi or burst-fired gun(even with Automatic gun with Semi selectors) should be fired without delay.
Second, Every guns should be 1-bullet headshot.
Don’t worry, there’s the way to balance it.
Buff pistol seems to be good, but if there’s no one hit headshot, there’s no way to fight against Heavily armed guy easily.
Just make every gun useful.
third: Make a hitbox for helmet and improve the helmet’s mechanism.
No, but seriously. Sometimes we need to protect bandits.
Make a hitbox for helmet, and make a helmet bulletproof for some bullets (not for sniper rifles’ bullet.)
But there’s a catch, Helmet should protect the bullet for only 3~5 bullets.
And if you get shot by face or forehead, not the helmet, you’ll die immediately.
fourth: High-recoil for automatic guns.
3.0’s gun recoil is very easily controllable, so if there’s the high-recoil but moderate-controllable recoil, it should be fine.
Recoil control and aiming skills would be a pure skills to fight… Just like the America’s Army: Proving Grounds.
Note: I hate CS:GO’s spray pattern supporters or Random recoil supporters.
Second note: Recoil and gun’s actual accuracy should be separated. Like the gun’s Minute of Angle stuff.
Third topic: Skill system
Especially guns. In 3.0, there’s the experience that upgrade your skill.
But that’s unrealistic. Does fishing or chopping the tree would improve your aiming skill? NO!
So I would suggest:
Make experience real experience.
Punching zombies would increase overkill
Shooting will increase your gun skill
Diving will increase your diving skill…
And so on.
