So one of my kids came up with a cool idea I’d love to see in 4.x. Upon death we ‘turn’. meaning when a player dies (in cases where a body is left) a zombie is created with his stuff on it. The zombie is otherwise normal (roams? spitter?, fire zobie?) but has the players stuff equipped until killed, at which point the zombie drops of the stuff in a pile for the player to collect.
If the player has armor those should apply in the same way it does to zombies wearing military, civilian, or police vests, plus any other cool stuff that comes out in 4.x which imbues proties to a player/zombie.
nelson has mentioned that this might be implemented, but no one has really talked about it. I feel this should be implemented but maybe you get 1/4 of the stuff and maybe a guaranteed item from the 1 and 2 slots.
I’m not big on the idea but for the sake of discussion, I’d say this only be a feature when you die from infection, instead of any other death. OP might’ve left that out accidentally.
The zombie version of you should have equipped and drop exactly what you were wearing when you died, either that or part of your loot would be dropped where you died.
I think that your character should become a zombie if you died of infection or being highly infected at the moment of death. If you die by falling from a skyscraper the dead body should just rest there like in 3.x
This is mentioned on the Trello but in a seperate game mode: Escape. So one way or another you can count that mechanic being included already.
Since the new dead player looting system is based on “their corpse” according to the Trello, your zombie should also retain all of your items. Then it would be just like a normal death.
That would be automatic based on what you’re wearing. Depending on how good your armor was, your zombie will be tougher. And your player’s inventory weight would determine the zombie’s speed as well. Extra buffed stats wouldn’t be necessary.
Well it wouldn’t make much sense to be turned into zombie once you eat enough moldy food. An infected effect (like bleeding or bone-breaking) could be added where once you’ve been hit by a zombie once, if you die of infection then you’ll become a zombie. The infected effect would be cured by a vaccine or by fully healing your infection bar.
I’d also like zombies killing you to turn you into a zombie, as that’s how it seems everyone else got infected. However, only these two specific scenarios. Like derfreak said, falling from a skyscraper shouldn’t turn you into a zombie.
Clearly you don’t understand balance. If you got everything back, dieing wouldn’t be bad. " Oh yeah my minigun and 70000 medkits are okdudes" just gotta.go kill anzombie and I get it all back haha"
Is that not how it works when you normally die? “Oh yeah my mini gun and 70000 med kits (damn that’s a lot) are ok dudes, just gotta go loot my body and I get it all back haha”. Why should getting killed by infection or by a zombie majorly penalize you by dropping 75% your stuff on the ground? It should be similar to when you die any other way, right?
Normally when you die, either someone takes you loot or it despawns. Also unturned 4 is supposed to be about survival, and this would be a crutch for bad players who don’t pay attention to their infection level. Another story: "GOD F**ING DAMNIT DUDE I DIED. I HATE XOMBIES!!! but it’s ok in this 100% survival game I can go back to the Xombie and get my LMG, and 150000000 medkits and ghillie suit back. YAY SUCH SURVIVL ASPECT!!! ITS NOT LIKE I SHOULD HAVE TO START OVER!!! HAHA (just so people don’t get confused that was the scenario of what shouldn’t happen) that’s why not all your loot should be dropped.
On the 4.x Trello it says that the corpses will be lootable and only the primary and secondary would drop. If you were to turn into a zombie, you wouldn’t rummage through your stuff and drop it all, you’d just be a mindless zombie. It makes no sense.
And why infection/dying from zombies specifically? What makes that so bad that the zombie created should randomly drop your items to penalize you?
So several people have mentioned turning into a zmobie only by infection or Zombie bite…but that’s not the standing zombie lore as I understand it to be. From the latest zombie movies and shows everybody is already infected by some virus that incubates in the living but reanimates the dead. In Unturned I always saw infection is a realistic way of dying in a suvival situation but not necessarily related to the cause of the zombie outbreak.
Is it explained somewhere in Unturned how the Zombie outbreak occured? Is it something all humanity has like The Walking Dead or Z Nation or is it something else?
There’s nothing specifically saying that everyone is infected in Unturned, but there was a patient zero. It can be assumed that none of the players are infected. Otherwise in some previous Unturned version people would turn into zombies upon death, but they don’t.
Then we could logically say everyone else got infected through some other means. Most likely zombie bites and infection. (Although laundry detergent might be part of it. Those washing machines are no coincidence!) So I’d say it’d be reasonable to only be infected in those two situations: Death by zombies and death by infection when infected.
YOU JUST IGNORED EVERYTHING I SAID. This is a survival game, when you die, you shouldn’t get your stuff back, you should have to start over,LIKE A SURVIVSL GAME. Just getting all your stuff back totally defeats the purpose of dieing at all. If you die normally your stuff despawns…if you die from infection and there is a zombie you, you get some of your stuff back. I WAS LITERALLY SAYING THAT DIEING FROM INFECTION COULD POSSIBLY BE BETTER THAN DIEING NORMALY BECAUSE OF THE ZOMBIE YOU IS CREATED!!!
